So is Running the Best Way to Lose Weight

Actually running or any type of exercise program should be implemented and become part of your routine when you are trying to lose weight. But before you go out and try and run the NY decathlon you should consult a doctor to make sure you are physically able to both begin changing your eating habits and starting an exercise regimen.

  • If you plan to start running one of the most important things you should be doing is drinking large amounts of water.
  • If you plan to make certain days longer runs. You should eat some carbohydrates the day before the day before. As the old saying goes. Or technically eat carbs about 2 to 3 days ahead of the scheduled longer run.
  • You should take it easy at first if you haven't been doing any physical activity in a long time.
  • Make a daily log of what you eat and the calorie total of what you eat. You don't want to starve yourself of calories. The body needs energy.

Basically a male that wants to weigh 180lbs should take in about 1800 calories per day. You should make sure that you do not burn too many calories that puts you below this number or you could cause more harm then good to your body. You will become fatigued easily. You will feel like you are at a low energy level for long periods. Remember your body is just like a car, it needs fuel.

So running definitely is one of the best ways to stay in shape and lose weight at a healthy rate.

Make sure you have good running shoes to help relieve stress on your joints and back. Running can be hard on the body without the right type of shoes to absorb a lot of the impact.

Don't be amazed when you come back from a run and jump on a scale and see you are 5lbs lighter. This isn't fat loss it is water loss. You need to make sure as like what was stated above, that you replenish this fluid. Dehydration can cause all kinds of issues, especially kidney problems.

Be sure to use common sense and you will find that running can become an enjoyable, endorphin rush!
